Update - 3 weeks after filing

As of last night, the total number of $5 contributions collected and in the hands of my campaign committee is

390

donations from registered Portland voters to help me qualify for Public Campaign Financing.

The first 300 forms will be submitted to the City later today. Under the revised rules of Portland's Public Campaign Finance Fund system, the first 300 must be submitted within 5 business days of receiving the 300th.

I've let go of my expectation that the accuracy rate will be 100%. A form can be rejected even before submission to the County for verification of the signature, if any of the details are missing or done incorrectly. There are 16 line items where an error can be made, on each form. And that's before signature verification, for which we at the campaign have no way of checking whether donors really are registered, beyond trusting their word in signing that they are.

Happily, unlike last cycle, minor documentation errors on forms don't cause disqualification, they "merely" don't allow the donation to count towards the required 1000 contributions of $5 from registered Portland voters. So we'll just keep working at it until the Auditor certifies my team has submitted 1000 valid ones, knowing that in the meantime good Portlanders all over the city are doing the best we can to make sure each form and donation is done as accurately and honorably as possible.
